Email usAt Haydon Blackmon Law, a Social Security disability firm in Kentucky, the files run thousands of pages and the briefs never stop coming due. Audrey Haydon-Blackmon handles that docket with a staffing plan that shouldn’t work.
“It’s just me and three paralegals, but we can run a firm as if we had twice as many staff,” she says.
Eve for SSD brings record review, drafting, and intake built for Social Security disability practices, so more firms can run the way Haydon Blackmon does.
Why SSD firms hit a capacity limit before a revenue limit
The fee cap for Social Security disability (SSDI and SSI) representation is $9,200 per case under SSA’s fee agreement process, in effect since November 30, 2024. In May 2025, SSA dropped its plan to review it annually and now changes it only when it publishes an increase.
Meanwhile, the hearing docket keeps growing. Pending hearings rose nearly 30% in a year, from about 280,000 in August 2025 to about 360,000 in August 2026, according to SSA.
When exhibits and briefs pile up faster than your team can get to them, something has to give. With revenue per case fixed, the lever is how many cases each person carries, and that’s the number Eve for SSD is built to move.
“In a high-volume business, time is money,” Haydon-Blackmon says, “and we have gotten back a lot of time already with Eve.”
How SSD firms use AI across the case
Eve works every stage of an SSD case, from handling intake calls and completing SSA forms to reviewing the ERE file and drafting the Appeals Council brief. See it in a demo.
Carry a bigger caseload because you can read every file
When you upload the ERE file, Eve ingests it with the exhibit structure intact: 1F, 2F, the works. That 2,000-page file you wouldn’t even have gotten to before comes back in about 20 minutes.
Eve’s Medical Overview builds a full chronology from Exhibit F, with treatment gaps, treating sources, and bad facts flagged and every line cited to its exhibit and page. “Eve knows all the listings and what to look for,” Haydon-Blackmon says.
Set up custom agents to go further, like reading the record against the listings and the claimant’s RFC, catching the lab value buried deep in the F exhibits that a tired reviewer may gloss past.
Kentucky attorney Ben Byers of Rhoads & Rhoads says, “Having the ability to create custom prompts allows us to tailor Eve to exactly how we handle Social Security cases.”
Draft every brief, from pre-hearing to appeal, in hours not days
From there, Eve drafts the full stack:
- pre-hearing briefs
- post-hearing briefs
- fee petitions
- Appeals Council briefs
- vocational expert (VE) hypotheticals
- gridding worksheets
- ALJ decision analyses, and more
Drafts pull from your own playbooks and a library of SSRs, the CFR, and Blue Book listings.
More cases get a full brief, and attorneys spend their hours at hearings instead of drafting.
After an unfavorable decision, Eve analyzes the ALJ decision against the file, flags the errors, and surfaces the strongest arguments for the Appeals Council, so the brief starts from the best basis for appeal instead of a blank page.
File with confidence, knowing every fact is checkable
Every listing match, treatment gap, and RFC conflict Eve surfaces comes with its exhibit and page, so you can check it in a click and nothing reaches the ALJ unchecked. The attorney reviews everything before it’s filed.
Set your citation format once in Eve’s saved instructions, and every answer cites the way you file. So you can ask where the proof of a sit-stand limitation is, and Eve answers like a hearing rep: “Exhibit 12F, page 10.”
It works in the hearing room too: search the record live when something comes up and find it without breaking flow.
Get intake calls answered and SSA forms filled quicker
Eve Intake extends that capacity to the front of the case, screening SSD callers, collecting medical and work history, and scoring every lead on disability-specific criteria. One SSD firm cut intake calls from 30 minutes to 5.
Once a claimant signs on, the paperwork starts. SSA’s forms can run up to 30 pages, and many claimants, especially those with cognitive or mental health conditions, never send them back, which can cost them the claim. One SSD firm now uses Eve’s outbound communications agents to call claimants at a scheduled time and walk them through each form. A disability application that used to take 1 to 1.5 hours now takes about 10 minutes.
How Haydon Blackmon turns around Appeals Council briefs in 30–45 minutes
Before Eve, briefing was the bottleneck for the solo firm Haydon Blackmon, where Audrey Haydon-Blackmon also handles personal injury and workers’ comp cases.
“I previously spent hours on the brief to the Appeals Council, or if I didn’t see a great basis for the appeal I would tell the client we would request review but not submit a brief at all,” Haydon-Blackmon says. “Now I am turning around very detailed briefs with citations to the exhibits and ALJ decision within 30-45 minutes.”
The firm saves 2 to 3 hours on every brief. In one diabetes appeal, Eve flagged 15 A1C readings around the one the ALJ relied on and surfaced the five strongest remand arguments.
“The time saving Eve has created for my paralegal means we can move more cases along, request pre-approval with a good basis more often, or weed out bad cases earlier on so no one is wasting time and resources on a case we can’t win.” Read the full story.
Considering Eve for your SSD firm?
“Eve takes the heavy lifting out of reviewing records, preparing cases, and drafting filings,” says Byers. “It frees us up to focus on strategy, client prep, and what actually matters at the hearing.”
